Kothagudem: Yardlong beans, which contain high fibre, proteins and vitamins vital for maintaining good health, grown by a farmer, Mallampalli Satyanarayana, of Vinayakapuram village in Aswaraopet mandal of this district are becoming famous in the market. He has brought the seeds from Bengaluru for cultivation.

Speaking to The Hans India, Satyanarayana said he had raised the bean crop using 8 kg seeds, along with other vegetables like ridged guard, tomato, making use of only animal excreta, vermicompost and Vepa Pindi as manure.

By growing tomato along with others, he has been able to secure the revenue of Rs 70,000 at a time. Taking cue from Satyanarayana, neighbouring farmers too started cultivating the yardlong beans.
