More welfare schools to be set up for Minorities, BCs: Kadiyam

He distributed blankets to the students of Kasturba Gandhi School here at Kusumanchi and said the R&B Minister was playing a key role in the development of the district.

He also said farming community in the State was happy since many major and minor irrigation projects were filled to brim due to copious rains in the month of September.

The Meteorological department had warned of chilly nights ahead. Students might face problems under such conditions. Understanding the situation, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has granted Rs15 crore for distributing blankets to about 3 lakh students studying in welfare schools across the State by investing Rs 640 on each student, said the Deputy CM.

He further added that by investing Rs1,200 crore every year, all facilities such as CCTV cameras, biometric attendance system and digital classes were provided in Kasturba Gandhi schools. This year the government had established 250 welfare schools in the State and for next academic year, it is determined to start about 120 BC, 90 Minority and 210 welfare schools in the State, he informed.

Speaking on the occasion, Tummala suggested the students to preserve the blankets and use them to protect themselves from cold weather. He also said the government was more concerned about the girl education in the State and was investing huge funds for their welfare and studies.

SC Corporation Chairman Pidamarthy Ravi, District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, Market Committee Chairman R J C Krishna and the District Education Officer Vijay Lakshmi Bai were present along with others.
