AIAWU seeks release of NREGA pending bills

Khammam: The representatives of the ‘All India Agriculture Workers Union’ (AIAWU) along with the workers of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme lay siege to the office of the Project Director of District Water Management Agency (DWMA) demanding to release the pending bills here in Khammam on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the District president of AIAWU Bathula Lenin said though many workers daring severe heat conditions completed the works assigned to them, the government did not release the bills till date.

The TRS party before going to election made promises to the people of Telangana but failed to fulfil a single promise even after two-and-a-half years of its rule. Moreover, the government was trying to dissolve the Act of employment guarantee scheme introduced by the Central government by not paying the bills, he alleged.

“We will organise ‘Vanta-Varpu’ programme with thousands of workers of Employment Guarantee Scheme in front of the Project Director’s office if the government fails to release the pending bills by the end of this month,” he warned.

Later, the leaders of AIAWU along with workers of the Employment Guarantee scheme submitted a memorandum to the Official of Engineering Department Sathyanarayana, who assured them of solving the issue by holding talks with Project Director of DWMA and make sure of release of pending bills within a week.

District General Secretary of AIAWU Vedagiri Srinivas Rao, P Sangaiah, P Veera Swamy, V Janaki Ramulu, B Venkataiah, G Naresh, G Somaiah, G Sathyanarayana, M Venkat, T Srinivas U Shankar Roa, T Venkateshwarlu and L Veera Swamy were present along with others.
