Khammam: The State Joint Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI-ML) New Democracy, Potu Ranga Rao, lashed out at Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for claiming himself as the sole warrior, who achieved separate statehood for Telangana. KCR was insulting people, who sacrificed their lives participating in Telangana movement, he added.

Addressing the media here at Ramanarsaiah Vignana Kendram in the town on Wednesday, Potu Ranga Rao came down heavily on the Chief Minister and alleged that during the Telangana movement, KCR lauded the services of Prof M Kodandaram. But now, after the formation of Telangana State, he was criticising him using abusive language, he lamented.

Ranga Rao said that the people of Telangana knew about the dubious role played by KCR during the Sakala Janula Samme, Sagara Haram (Telangana March) and Millennium March. It was due to the ferocious struggle carried out by the people of Telangana along with T-JAC and various peoples’ organisations that resulted in the formation of Telangana State. It was not because of the bogus fasting drama enacted by KCR, he pointed out.

The TRS thought that it would win Singareni elections by a huge majority by spending crores of rupees. However, on seeing the outcome, the TRS leaders became despondent and KCR was venting his ire against Opposition leaders, Ranga Rao added.

The CPI-ML leader alleged that traders and middlemen were cheating the innocent farmers in the purchase of food grains in Khammam Agricultural Market by taking huge commissions in the name of cutting bills.

He demanded the State government to open purchasing centres in all Agricultural markets in the district along with taking necessary measures for purchasing of cotton through CCI centres.

He also demanded the State government to withdraw the decision of shifting of Collectorate which was centrally located for many people who come from various places of the district. CPI-ML New Democracy district secretary G Venkateshwar Rao and other leaders like Kecchla Ranga Reddy, Avula Venkateshwarlu, G Ramaiah, S Y Pullaiah and Avula Ashok were present on the occasion.
