Nalgonda: The All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) Nalgonda district unit has demanded the district administration to take stern action against the government doctor who had cut the large intestine during the operation on a woman at Miryalaguda Area Hospital.

A delegation of AIDWA under the leadership of district general secretary Paladugu Prabhavathi on Friday met District Collector Gaurav Uppal and submitted a memorandum.

During the interaction with the Collector, AIDWA delegation informed that Mathanagi Laxmamma of Vemulapally mandal in the district went to Miryalaguda Area Hospital for delivery on October 25, and was discharged after three days. When she complained of unbearable stomach ache, a scanning of her abdomen revealed that her large intestine was cut. She was soon referred to a hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment.

AIDWA demanded the Collector to address the issue of Laxmamma and pay for her medical expenses, besides seeking the suspension of duty doctor and compensation to the victim.

Responding to their request, the Collector immediately contacted the District government hospital superintendent Dr Narsing Rao over the phone and enquired about issue. He also assured all cooperation and aid to the victim woman.

According to sources, a surgery was performed on the victim woman at Narketpally Kamineni Hospitals four days ago and has been kept in Intensive Care Unit for further observation.
