Nalgonda: The police of erstwhile Nalgonda district on Friday arrested the representatives and leaders of various teachers’ associations while they were leaving for Hyderabad to attend a state-level meeting demanding scrapping of Contributory Pension Scheme.

The police of Nalgonda, Kodad and Suryapet arrested the leaders and representatives and shifted them to local police stations. Meanwhile, the arrested teachers staged the protest at police stations and raised slogans against the government.

Nalgonda district secretary of CPM party Mudireddy Sudhakar Reddy condemned the arrests of teachers and called it as undemocratic. He slammed the State government for suppressing the voices of people who were fighting for genuine demands.

Extending his support to the agitating unions, the CPM leader demanded the State government to implement old pension scheme instead of CPS.
