Kothagudem: Although the election to determine the recognised trade union in the Singareni Collieries were held two months ago, uncertainty still prevails as the triumphant organisation is yet to receive the certificate from the Labour department. As such, the final result still appears to be pending.

This comes in the wake of the complaints by trade unions AITUC, INTUC, HMS and BMS of misuse of official machinery by the ruling party by offering allurements to workers. It is learnt that the Labour department is going to submit a report after conducting an inquiry into the complaints. The department summoned the trade unions in the first week of November and secured information regarding the complaints.

Seshayya of AITUC told The Hans India that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, along with the Joint Bypartite Committee for Coal Industries, had announced incentives and ‘distributed’ Rs 100 crore to the workers. Following this, he said, the four trade unions had lodged a complaint with the Union Labour Ministry.

Consequently, the department had conducted an inquiry by the Labour Commissioner. According to Seshayya, the election verification certificate is likely to be handed over in the first week of December, as it is learnt that election code is not applicable for the trade union polls.
