With an intension to promote the habit of reading among children and strengthen the library system, Sheik Sadiq Ali, a former journalist and businessman, distributed books to school students here. At a massive programme at Singareni High School grounds at Yellandu in the district on Friday, Sadiq Ali distributed books to more than 4,000 students from various government and private schools.
Yellandu (Bhadradri-Kothagudem): With an intension to promote the habit of reading among children and strengthen the library system, Sheik Sadiq Ali, a former journalist and businessman, distributed books to school students here. At a massive programme at Singareni High School grounds at Yellandu in the district on Friday, Sadiq Ali distributed books to more than 4,000 students from various government and private schools.
The event was held commemorating the International Telugu Maha Sabalu to be held in Hyderabad from December 15. Addressing students, Ali said the tribal population in the State was the most neglected and they were in dire need of proper educational facilities.
Those concerned must inculcate a habit of book reading among the tribal students so that they could gain knowledge and enhances their intellect, he said adding that he would be providing books to all the tribal children, which would help them build a better future for them.
He intends to take-up his ‘Topudu Bandi’ (push cart) to each and every tribal hamlet in the area to give books to the tribal children. He started distribution of books to school children three years ago on his Topudu Bandi. Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha chairman Dindigala Rajender said there was an urgent need to promote Telugu language and it is important that the young students cultivate the habit of reading books, which off late has become extinct.
The State government is conducting the International Telugu Maha Sabalu at Hyderabad in a prestigious manner in order to highlight the beauty and significance of the language and culture of the Telugu people, he added.Rajender advised the students to start reading books to improve their knowledge base and thanked Sadiq Ali for taking up the noble cause of distributing books to the tribal students.
