Mentally-ill Dalit man found charred to death

A Dalit was found charred to death in an agriculture field at Mudigonda village of Devarakonda mandal in the district on Tuesday. According to police, S Subash (30) was mentally ill and his family members admitted him in Erragadda Mental Hospital in Hyderabad, a couple of years ago. He was discharged from the hospital few months ago after he became normal.

Nalgonda: A Dalit was found charred to death in an agriculture field at Mudigonda village of Devarakonda mandal in the district on Tuesday. According to police, S Subash (30) was mentally ill and his family members admitted him in Erragadda Mental Hospital in Hyderabad, a couple of years ago. He was discharged from the hospital few months ago after he became normal.

Police and locals suspect the hand of family members in setting him on fire in the house on Monday night and abandoned the body in the fields. Few villagers opined that the family members might have taken the extreme step as they were afraid that Subash may kill them in their sleep. Subash is survived by wife and a child.

Preliminary investigation revealed that there was a fire in the victim’s house and fire marks were observed on the switch boards. Devarakonda CI Ramakrishna visited the spot. After collecting evidences and completing all the formalities, the dead body was shifted to Devarakonda area hospital for postmortem. The Devarakonda police filed a case and took up investigation.
