Khammam: The representatives of Malala Ikya Vedika urged the government not to ahead with the categorisation of Schedule Castes into A, B, C and D sub-castes as it was against the spirit of Indian Constitution.

The representatives led by Vedika convenor G Bhadraiah gave a representation to District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar opposing the catergorisation of SC’s, during the Grievance Day at Collectorate in Khammam on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhadraiah alleged the SC Corporation Chairman Pidamarthi Ravi was showing partiality in allotting SC Corporation loans and land distribution to people belonging to Madiga community though only 59 sub-castes were present in the Scheduled Castes.

Many incidents of attacks and boycotts by people belonging to Scheduled Castes were taking place across the State. The government must take necessary steps to prevent them besides taking stringent action against those for encouraging violence against people belonging to lower castes, he demanded.

He also sought the government to provide employment opportunities by appointing jobless youth of SC community on contract and out-sourcing basis. Representatives of the Vedika J Praveen, P Thirupathaiah, L Ravi Kumar, K Prabhakar Rao, Kotte Sudhakar, Ch Jeevan, K Dayanand and K Upendar were present along with others.
