Political tug of war begins in Khammam

With just a year-and-half left for the 2019 poll battle, major political parties in the State have already started their preparations. In this regard, TRS along with other major political parties including Congress, Left, BJP, TDP and YSRCP in the district are preparing strategies to increase their vote bank by laying firm foundations from the village-level.

Khammam: With just a year-and-half left for the 2019 poll battle, major political parties in the State have already started their preparations. In this regard, TRS along with other major political parties including Congress, Left, BJP, TDP and YSRCP in the district are preparing strategies to increase their vote bank by laying firm foundations from the village-level.

For the incumbent Telangana Rashtra Samithi, their role as the governing party remains the top priority. However, at the same time, it is preparing for the elections by taking up many developmental activities and introducing and implementing several welfare schemes.

With the initiation taken by Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, the TRS party started 2017 year with bang by inaugurating the Bhakta Ramadasu project. Similarly, in June, IT Minister K T Rama Rao laid foundation stone for the Khammam IT Hub, whose works are going on at a brisk pace. In October, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao inaugurated the Palair Old canal after renovation for supplying irrigation waters.

The Congress, the main opposition party, has decided not to along with any other party. At present, it is sharing twin responsibilities. They are preparing for the upcoming elections, while carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the opposition.

With the elevation of Rahul Gandhi as AICC president, the party leaders are expecting changes from the village level. While the Congress has the rich history of governance, the joining of Revanth Reddy and other senior leaders like Potla Nageshwar Rao has given the party the much-need momentum.

When it comes to Left, the Mahajana Padayatra led by CPM party state secretary Tammineni Veerabhdram and Poru Bata by CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy rejuvenated the party cadre and helped the Left to strengthen from village level in the district.

The 20th conference of CPM party that was held in Wyra for two days was a huge hit. New committee was formed with senior leader Nunna Nageswara Rao as district secretary along with constituting the committee with young blood in the presence of Tammineni Veerabhadram.

While all these major political parties are busy planning their strategies, parties like BJP, TDP and YSRCP have also organised meetings and questioned the government’s ‘anti-people’ polices to make their presence felt. They have now started making efforts to strengthen their parties from village level in the district.
