Bhongir: District Collector Anita Ramachandran advised medical and health department to create awareness about health among village women with the help of NGO organisations. The Collector on Thursday participated as chief guest to an awareness programme conducted by the District Medical and Health Office and the NGO Life Health Re-Enforcement Group. The programme was titled ‘Save the Uterus - Strengthen the Society for the Good Health of Women’.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramachandran asked both private and government doctors to inform women about health issues that would crop up due to unnecessary removal of uterus. She said it was the duty of all to stop injustice being meted out to patients in the medical field.

She suggested doctors to conduct health awareness programmes more frequently in villages. Stating that women were facing so many issues due to caesarean operation, the Collector advised the doctors to promote normal deliveries for the welfare of women in all aspects.

She further warned stringent action against doctors those suggest surgeries for commercial benefits. Ramachandran directed the officials of DHMO to chalk out a comprehensive plan to conduct awareness programmes in villages.

District Medical and Health Officer Dr Sambhashiva Rao, Dr Kotyanaik, Anjaiah, NGO chief Surya Prakash, Dr Kameshwari, Dr Vasundara, IMA district president Dr Giridhar and others attended the programme.
