Khammam: A team of American doctors led by Dr George Longsmith and Dr Bates Longsmith conducted a Free Surgical Camp organised under St Mary’s Mission Hospital here in Khammam on Monday.The Free Surgical Camp was inaugurated by the retired Rev Dr Vadapalli Prasad Rao, the Bishop at Dornakal Church, here in Khammam on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr V Prasad Rao said for the past 20 years the St Mary’s Mission Hospital had been organising Free Surgical Camp in the month of January for the poor and the needy, living in the surrounding areas who cannot offer costly treatment by corporate hospitals. The registrations of patients who wanted to attend the Free Surgery Camp started from December 1 and ended in January first week. The camp would be organised for two days, he informed.

The patients suffering with tumours, thyroid, hernia, hydroxyl, piles, fistula, burns, hysterectomy (Major operation), appendectomy and urinary problems would be attended by a team of doctors lead by Dr George Longsmith and Dr Bates Longsmith.

Other than conducting surgeries, the patients will also be provided with necessary medication until they get cured from their health problems in the St. Mary’s Hospital. Dornakal Mandal Secretary Dr B D P Ravindra, Rev Senam Raju, Manager of the St Mary’s Hospital Franklin, Rev P C John Mark and the 16th Division Corporator Murali were present along with the hospital staff.
