Khammam: Mayor Dr Papa Lal has urged people to keep their surroundings clean and neat to prevent the spread of dreadful diseases like dengue, malaria, chikungunya and others. It may be recalled that for prevention of spread of dreadful diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya, seven teams were constituted under the leadership of Mayor Papa Lal and District Malaria Officer Dr Rambabu.
Few months ago, the teams visited the places where the dengue and malaria cases were registered more in numbers and took measures by releasing Gambusia fishes in areas with stagnant water and in open wells to keep check on the larval growth of vectors. Necessary treatment is also provided to those who were suffering from the diseases.
To know the health conditions of the patients who were provided treatment, the Mayor accompanied by District Malaria Officer visited 31 and 32 Divisions of Khammam city here on Wednesday.
Interacting with people, he asked them to observe every Friday as ‘Dry Day’ to keep their surroundings clean and tidy to prevent the spread of disease-causing germs. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor suggested people to utilise services provided in government hospital. He advised people to change water in pots, drums, coolers regularly to keep check on larval growth of vectors.
“If people notice that they are suffering with any kind of illness, they must immediately visit nearby government hospital and should get their blood test done to diagnose the disease,” he added. 32 Division corporator Indira, Dr Satyanarayana Reddy, Dr Mudiraj Ashok, HI Narasimha Rao and staff members of health department were present along with others.
