Khammam: Lambadi Hakkula Porata Samithi (LHPS) state secretary Guguloth Rajesh Naik alleged that the people living in the surrounding areas were facing financial loss and health problems because of air pollution, due to the blasting in Sattupalli JVR Open Cast-1 under Kothagudem area of Singareni Collieries.

LHPS representatives submitted a representation to District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar at the Collectorate here on Monday on the occasion of Grievance Day. Later speaking with the media, Rajesh Naik alleged that about 250 houses in NTR Colony were damaged due to blasting in Sattupalli JVR Open Cast-1.

The blasting is going on without prior information to the people living in surrounding areas and without taking any precautions, because of which many people faced huge loss and are facing health problems with dust and smoke.

Despite several appeals, the Singareni Collieries officials are continuing their blasting activities, he pointed out. Naik demanded the government closure of open mining at Sattupalli JVR Open Cast-1and further requested the government to give permission for underground mining to protect environment and people living in surrounding areas of Sattupalli and Kothagudem.

LHPS representatives B Nandu Naik, G Rajesh Naik, D Dasharath Naik, S K Nazeer, G Krishna Naik, B Veera Prasad, Kumar, S K Chand Pasha, S K Ismail and S K Mahamood were present along with others.
