Khammam: District Secretary of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Nunna Nageshwar Rao here on Thursday alleged that the government is trying to destroy the government education sector by allowing private universities across the State.

The CPI-M activists in protest against the Private Universities Bill that was passed in the Assembly on Wednesday, burnt an effigy of the State government in front of the Pavilion Grounds here in on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Nageshwar Rao alleged that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had promised to launch KG to PG free education in the State. But he reneged on his election promise.

Instead of implementing the KG to PG free education, and strengthening the government education sector, the Private universities bill was introduced in the Assembly and was passed. He said Bhadrachalam CPI-M MLA Sunnam Rajaiah criticised the Bill, he said. The government is adopting the anti-people policies and is behaving negligently in solving the various people’s issues across the State.
