The representatives of the Association held a massive demonstration with nearly 500 tractors in protest against the contractors and quarry owners from Raparthinagar petrol bunk to ZP centre here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Thirumala Rao said many people, depending on running compressors (tractors) and workers, are in miserable condition.

“On a number of occasions, we appealed to the contractors and quarry owners to enhance the hire charges and wages of the workers who are loading the materials, but in vain,” he alleged.

“We are going for strike from April 1 to 3 in support out demand,” he said. Association members Bandaru Durga Rao, Challa Sampath, Alakunta Lingaiah, Yellaiah, Narasimha and Mallaiah were present along with others.
