Mahbubnagar: the Communist party of India (CPI) leaders in Mahbubnagar district have deplored the “indifferent attitude” on the part of the TRS government to the plight of the rain-hit farmers. The party is planning to launch a State-wide agitation of Jail Bharo programme to protest against the government’s attitude towards farmers.

CPI district unit leaders Paramesh Goud, S K Mujeeb and others alleged that even though it was more than a week now since the farmers faced huge crop loss due to unseasonal rains, not a single leader from the government visited the farmers to assess the crop loss. “Not a single MLA, MP or MLC have visited the farmers to assess the crop loss in the State.

They have the time to attend the marriages and other events ,but has no time to pay attention to the farmers’ woes in the district,” said Parameshwar Goud, Mahbubnagar CPI district unit secretary, while visiting the mango farmers in Polepally region under Jadcherla mandal on Sunday.

The CPI leader said the TRS government had turned a deaf ear to the farmers’ plight right from the beginning. In fact, the government is implementing wrong policies which are against the interests of farmers in the State. They are taking away the lands of the farmers and paying them meagre amounts of compensation for their lands. The livelihood of thousands of farmers has been deprived of.

As a support to the farmers’ plight, the CPI party leaders are planning to go for a state-wide agitation on April 16 and are planning to conduct Jail bharo programme. “Both the State and Central governments are acting indifferent to the farmers’ plight, he said.
