​Khammam: Sattupalli Telugu Desham Party MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah here on Monday alleged that the farmers are facing hardships under the TRS rule.
The MLA along with the leaders of the Rythu Sangham and TDP party leaders staged a sit-in protest in front of the District Collectorate, demanding that the government pay compensation to the rain-hit farmers.
The MLA along with party leaders submitted a memorandum to the District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar. He urged the Collector to open the corn purchasing centres as early as possible to bail out the farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkata Veeraiah alleged that under the TRS government, the farmers across the state are facing lot of problems. The farmers are denied minimum support price for their produce and are committing suicide.
The government, he said, had failed to take steps to pay compensation to the rain-hit farmers though three weeks passed since the rains had devastated the crops. Efforts to enumerate crop loss too was not taken, he said.
He demanded that the government pay the compensation to the farmers immediately. TDP leaders Talluri Hanumantha Rao, Swarna Kumari and Rythu Sangham leaders were present at the programme.
