Woman’s death soon after childbirth sparks tension in Bhoodan Pochampally

Relatives of the woman staged a protest demonstration, demanding stringent action against those responsible for death of the mother and baby.

According to police, Rasanuri Latha, resident of Mehar Nagar village under Pochampaly mandal in the district was admitted to the hospital for delivery. On Wednesday night, Latha was brought to the PHC at the mandal headquarter by her sister for delivery. Staff nurse at the PHC examined Latha. After two hours, Latha gave birth to a baby boy.

But soon after the delivery, newborn baby died and the mother became unconscious. As her condition turned critical, 108 Ambulance was called to shift her to another hospital. The Ambulance staff declared her dead.

The relatives staged a protest. Bhongir MLA Shekar Reddy intervened and brought the situation under control. He assured them that three acres of land and 2BBHK house would be allotted to them. He said he would recommend ex gratia too.
