​Khammam: All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) Pashya Padma here on Wednesday demanded that the government implement the Rythu Bandhu scheme for tenant and podu farmers also. AIKS organised farmer joint action committee (JAC) meeting on at its office here.

Later, speaking to the media, Padma alleged that the State government did not include the tenant farmers under Rythu Bandhu Scheme. It could be that the State government intended to introduce a new tenant act. In fact, there was no need for Rythu Bandhu scheme if the government ensured minimum support prices to the farm produce, she pointed out.

She demanded that the government distribute land to the landless and take steps to prevent farmers’ suicide. The government can help farmers only byimplementing the recommendations of Swaminathan Commission immediately, she demanded.

She urged the representatives of various farmers’ unions to make road blockade programme, to be held on Thursday, a grand success. The AIKS called for blockade of road on the National Highway betwee Khammam and Karimnagar.

Leaders of Farmers Union JAC Achyuta Ramarao, Vidhya Sagar, Ramchandra Reddy, Mandhdapu Nageshwar Rao, Rama Krishna Reddy, Bandi Ramesh, Avula Venkateshwarlu, K Nageshwar Rao, Venkat Reddy, M Rani and Prem Kumar were present were present at the programme.
