​Nalgonda: Railway police here on Friday claimed to have arrested a gang of a six member gang in connection with stealing of cell phones from the passengers and recovered Rs 2.80 lakhs worth mobile phones from them.

The arrested were identified as Mudrakola Sridhar (22), Kamsani Shekar (24) and Khandoju Bhanu Prakash (23) of Thathanagar of Bhongir town, Dasarapu Ganesh (19), Annepu Jahangir (23) and Dasari Ravinder (26) of B N Thimmapur village under Bhongir mandal

Railway Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar told the media that the main accused M Sridhar and K Shekar used to steal mobile phones from passengers in the trains. The duo used to hand over the stolen mobile phones to the other members in the gang for selling them.

Railway Circle Inspector Venkatesham Naik and Sub-Inspector Achyutham along with the personnel arrested the main accused Sridhar and Shekar on Friday while they were moving under suspicious circumstances at Bhongir railway station, During the investigation, the duo confessed to their crimes, the SP said

On the information provided by the arrested persons, police arrested all the gang members and recovered Rs 2,80,000 worth 24 smart mobile phones from the possession, he said. Ashok Kumar advised the railway passengers not to leave belongings unattended while travelling in trains.
