Mahbubnagar: Construction of bypass road from SVS Medical College to Bhootpur to ease traffic congestion on the main road in the district is gathering pace. The road is expected to be extended up to Palamuru.
The State government sanctioned Rs. 96.70 crores for the construction of a bypass road from SVS medical College near Appanapally village to Palamuru University. However, due to some problems relating to land acquisition the road works were left pending.
But now the authorities overcame all these problems and taking up the construction of four-lane road connecting the Jadcherla-Mahbubnagar main road at SVS Medical College to Bhootpur-Mahbubnagar road.
“Day by day, the city of Mahbubnagar is expanding in both length and widths, in just a span of decade, traffic has increased many folds. Because of this the main road passing the city is congested with traffic.
It has necessitated the construction of a new bypass road to divert the heavy vehicular traffic from Jadcherla, Bhootpur to Raichur through the bypass road. We are expecting that if the pace of works continues with the same speed we will be able to complete the works by end of next year,” said MLA Srinivas Goud.
At present a team of officials from Roads and Buildings Department are conducting the survey. Simultaneously the digging works are also going on at a brisk pace. Once the nine-km long stretch of bypass road is completed the traffic will be diverted from Apannapally to Bandameetipally main road initially. After that the officials are planning to expand the bypass road up to Palamuru University to connect the Raichur road.
“We are facing tough time traversing the city of Mahbubnagar during peak times. It takes about 30-45 minutes to move from SVS medical college to one town police station. Thanks to the government it has taken up the bypass road. It will defiantly help decongest the traffic jams in the city,” Dilip, a resident of Mahbubnagar.
At present, to overcome the traffic snarls, the traffic police are diverting the heavy vehicles from Jadcherla crossroad to Bhootpur and from there the vehicles will reach the Raichur road. Once the bypass road is completed all these problems will be overcome and it will help a great deal in decongesting the existing traffic problems in the district.
