Peddapalli: Joint Collector Vanaja Devi ordered the officials to make alternate arrangements to distribute stock under Public Distribution System through ration shops, without any hurdles.

She held a meeting with the officials to discuss about the distribution of stock under PDS in view of strike call given by fair price shop dealers from June 28, here at the Collectorate Conference hall on Wednesday.

Speaking at the meeting, the JC suggested the officials to take the help of representatives of Indira Kranthi Patham (IKP) women associations for distribution of rice and other goods through ration shops along with issuing notices to the dealers, who did not pay DDs.

The JC ordered district civil supply officer to collect the details of at least two persons, who are ready to run the ration shops, along with submitting the details to the officials of civil supply department.

The officials were directed to take necessary steps for supplying stock to district godowns, to keep vehicles ready for supplying the same to mandal level stock (MLS) points and handing over weighing scales of all ration shops to mandal tahsildar. Vanaja Devi also suggested to arrange police security at ration shops to prevent any untoward incidents at the time of stock distribution.

District in-charge DRO B Padmaiah, district in-charge DRDO Prem Kumar, district civil supply officer Rehaman, district civil supply manager Abhishek Singh, Peddapalli tahsildar Anupama Rao, Sultanabad tahsildar Rajitha and others were present at the meeting.
