Elderly woman cheated in Aler town

Aler (Yadadri-Bhongir): Unknown offenders cheated an innocent elderly woman in the name of providing gas connection. The incident took place at Ram Shivaji Nagar of Aler town on Thursday.

According to sources, the accused persons approached the elderly woman, Elugala Laxmi, and informed that a gas connection was sanctioned to her and asked to pay the required amount otherwise connection would be cancelled.

When Laxmi informed them that she had no money at the moment, the accused coaxed Laxmi to give away her ear rings, worth Rs 15,000, for providing the gas connection.

Soon, Laxmi handed over her ear rings to them and realised her folly when the accused did not turn up for proving the gas connection. Soon, she approached the police and lodged a complaint against the accused. Police started the probe to net the accused.
