Khammam: Around 315 villages in Khammam district are going to witness enormous growth and development as the district has been selected under ‘Transformation of Aspiration Districts’ (TAD) Programme, which is the new initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendera Modi this year.
The Transformation of Aspiration Districts’ programme aims at transformation of district quickly and effectively in terms of development. The broad contours of the programme are convergence (Of Central and State government schemes) with States as the main drivers.
This programme will focus on the strengthening of the districts which are lagging behind in terms of development. The programme also aims at development of health, nutrition, education, agriculture, water resources, electricity, financial inclusion, skill development and providing of basic infrastructure in the selected districts.
The Central government handed over the responsibility of development of backward districts to the Niti Ayog and appointed the Joint Secretary of Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Sanjay Kumar as the Nodal Officer.
As part of the programme, the officials recently visited to the Khammam district and identified 315 villages under the Transformation of Aspiration Districts’ Programme to be implemented from August 15.
The government is committed to raising the living standards of its citizens and ensuring inclusive growth for all-Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ to enable optimum utilization of their potential in the backward districts, said the officials during their visit to Khammam.
Under the programme, nearly seven Central government schemes such as Pradhan Manthir Jeevan Jyothi Bima Yojana, Suraksha Bima Yojana, Jan Dan Yojana, Soubhgya, Ujwala, Mission Indradhanush and installation of street lights will be implemented in the identified 315 villages, they added.
