Self-immolation bid by women foild
Fed up with the insensitive attitude of the Wanaparthy district Revenue officials towards her problem, a woman tried self immolation in front of the Collectorate on Monday
Mahbubnagar: Fed up with the insensitive attitude of the Wanaparthy district Revenue officials towards her problem, a woman tried self immolation in front of the Collectorate on Monday.
However, the security guards and police personnel who were present on the spot acted swiftly and avoided a major incident. Going into the details, K. Chennamma of Gopalpet mandal has 1.32 acres of land in her name.
However, two persons named Yadgiri and Shashidhar have illegally occupied her land three years back. Chennamma had approached the Gopalpet tahsildar and many other officials in the Mandal revenue office to justice; however, no one helped her.
Vexed up with the callous and insensitive attitude of the local authorities, Chennamma approached the district collectorate and lodged her complaint at Prajavaani so many times. Though the officials at Prajavaani had assured that they would look in to the matter, no body has come so far to help her to get her land back from the encroachers.
Aggrieved over this, Chennamma decided to end her life and doused herself with kerosene and tried to set herself ablaze in front of the Collectorate. “At least now I am expecting the officials will help me get back by land. Or else I have no other option by to end my life,” said Chennamma.
