Headmasters demand promotions

Kurnool: The Government teachers under the aegis of United Teachers Federation staged a demonstration in front of the District Education Office here on Monday denouncing negligent attitude of Regional Joint Director of School Education in promoting Grade-II Headmasters. Speaking on the occasion, UTF district general secretary Suresh Kumar said headmasters and school assistants working in Kurnool district were denied of promotions though his colleagues got them across the State. But Regional Joint Director was not responding to the pleas of the teachers for promotions. A notification was issued pertaining to promotions of headmasters working in Chittoor, Anantapur and Kadapa districts but Kurnool was completely ignored, he said. Suresh Kumar said that 10th class students were appearing for public exams without headmasters in 33 government schools. He wondered as to how teachers would achieve hundred percent results in the 10th class public exams when there were 100 headmaster posts lying vacant in the district.
