Union Minister of State for Railways Kotla Jayasurya Prakash Reddy on Friday appealed to everyone to give importance to implementation of Telugu as official language. He garlanded the Telugu Talli statue at Kondareddy 'buruju' to mark the Telugu Basha Day during the education fortnight. District collector P Sudharshan Reddy and MLC Sudhakar Babu were present.

The minister praised great poets for penning epics Ramayana and Mahabharat in a simple but 'sweet' language understandable to all. He complimented the collector for implementing telugu as official language. Reddy appealed to everyone to cooperate to make the implementation 100 per cent. Sudhakar Babu observed that if Telugu was enforced as official language the desires of people could be fulfilled. He urged the collector to make official correspondence understandable to all and to ensure that name boards of business establishments were in Telugu. Sudarshan Reddy said orders had been issued after the World Telugu Conference to fix Telugu name boards.

Chandrasekhar Kalkura said the Central Sahitya Academy was striving for the uplift of Telugu even while impIementing the three-language formulas. He appealed to officials to change the use of 25 per cent English in the district. Y V Ramayya, DCC president, J S R K Sarma, president, State Telugu Basha Vikas, Srinivasulu, president, District Stage Artists' Association, Roshan Ali, Chandranna Rangamuni, secretaries, Telugu pandits Yelamachali Ramanaiah and Satynarayana Murthy were present.
