Kurnool: Former President of India Dr Neelam Sanjiva Reddy had rendered yeomen service to the country in general and to Rayalaseema in particular and his serves were unforgettable, said Minister for Minor Irrigation T G Venkatesh.

Inaugurating the centenary celebrations of Dr Neelam Sanjiva Reddy at the Collectorate here on Sunday as chief guest, the minister exhorted people to follow the values set by the former President. The minister said that there was perceptible difference between the politicians of those days and the present days. He said that Dr Sanjiva Reddy as the Speaker, Chief Minister, Union Minister, president of Pradesh Congress Committee and national committee had excelled in performing his duties. "Due to his honesty and integrity he was able to discharge his duty in so many positions," he said.

He said that the former President was instrumental in the construction of Srisailam project and other irrigation projects. Earlier, the minister garlanded the photograph of Dr Sanjiva Reddy and paid rich tributes. District Revenue Officer Venugopal Reddy said that Dr Sanjiva Reddy was impartial in discharging his duties. DWAMA PD Harinadha Reddy, district audit officer, PD of eradication of child labour Isaac, assistant director of Agriculture department, Administrative officer of the Collectorate Sampat Kumar and others were present.
