Woman alleges switching of babies

Kurnool: Ramanamma of Guntakallu in Anantapuram district staged a dharna in front of the Kurnool Government hospital on Tuesday along with her relatives alleging that she was given a baby girl even though she gave birth to a baby boy. Ramanamma was admitted into the government hospital here for delivery and the doctors told her that she has given birth to a baby girl. However, when she applied for the birth certificate, it was mentioned in it as baby boy. She inquired with the municipal office where it was also mentioned as baby boy. Ramanamma alleged that the hospital staff switched the babies and she was given the baby girl. She demanded inquiry into the incident and hand her over the baby boy. "DNA test should be conducted to confirm the real baby," she demanded.Dr Jyotirmayi, head of department, said that records would be verified and stern action would be taken against the persons if they were found guilty.
