Samaikhyandhra activists, comprising students, employees, workers and women, formed a mammoth human chain here on Friday in support of the demand to keep Andhra Pradesh united. Tens of thousands of people gathered and formed a chain that extended along Telugu Talli Statue, One Town Circle, Pula Bazzar Circle, Konda Reddy Buruju Circle, Pedda Market, Raj Vihar Centre, Krishna Nagar, Anand Complex, Municipal Office, RS Road Circle and other areas. The chain covered around 28 km in the town, with the members raising ‘Jai Samaikhyandhra’ slogans.

The Samaikhyandhra JAC leaders said that they would intensify the agitation in all Seemandhra districts if the Congress leadership did not withdraw its proposal to divide the State. Congress MLC Sudhakar Babu faced opposition from the activists when he offered support to members of the Employees JAC observing relay hunger strike. The 48-hour fast undertaken by Katasani Rambhupal Reddy ended, while relay hunger strikes by members of various organisations continued. YSRCP activists and leaders continued their relay fasts in solidarity with their party chief YS Jagan’s deekhsa.
