Taking the stage to deliver the inaugural address of the opening ceremony of Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started off by saying, “Women are an incarnation of Shakti. Women's empowerment vital to India's development. Every developmental project has had an immense contribution from women. From our successful space projects to our government ministries, everything has women contributing to a great extent.”

Stating that this is the first time that the Summit is being hosted in Asia, he said that the Summit not only connects Silicon Valley with Hyderabad but showcases the close ties between India and America.

On women empowerment at GES, he said, “GES will showcase women who have dared to be different. More than 50% delegates at the GES are women. India's history replete with women.”

Mentioning some of the major contributions of Indian women, PM Modi said, “More than 60 percent of workers in the agricultural and allied sector are women. Three of India's oldest High Courts headed by women. India's Mars Mission had immense contribution to women scientists. Not just in ISRO, even Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams contributed massively to US space projects. Hyderabad itself is home to world-renowned sportswomen like Saina Nehwal, PV Sandhu and Sania Mirza who have got laurels for the country.”

Recalling the schemes implemented and growth of innovation in India, the Prime Minister mentioned,

We have launched 'AIMtoInnovate' with over 900 Atal Tinkering Labs to promote a culture of innovation among children. We have also launched 19 Incubation Centres to further innovation across India.
Smartphone users in India projected to grow to 580 million by 2018, offering immense potential for the growth of any entrepreneurial venture, in terms of outreach and job creation. Aadhaar covers 1.15 billion people and 40 million digital transactions taking place daily.
Through Jan Dhan Yojana and direct transfer scheme, the government has brought informal sector into the banking system.
Numerous incubation centers have been created in various universities to nurture innovative startup ventures to become scalable and sustainable.
Addressing the youth of India, PM Modi said, “You are the vehicle of change for India, invites foreign entrepreneurs to come to India, Invest in India, for India, and for the world.”

He also mentioned that India is working to develop a comprehensive national energy policy.

The Prime Minister concluded his inaugural address by stating that India-US declare November 27 as world entrepreneurship Day further inviting everyone to come and invest in India.
