Hyderabad: In order to speed up the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to acquire as many as 2,000 properties at 34 stretches of land to take up road widening works. The GHMC has deputed a City Zonal Commissioner to supervise the progress on a daily basis and complete it within three months. The executive engineers (projects) and the Special Grade Collector (Land Acquisition) will negotiate with the land owners for payment of compensation.

According to GHMC officials, the civic body will acquire 34 properties at Cherlapally Rail-Over-Bridge (ROB) , 168 properties at Uppal junction-Nalla Cheruvu stretch, 54 properties near LB Nagar junction, 57 properties at Bairamalguda junction, 57 properties at Kamineni Junction, 216 properties at Kothapet-Nagole stretch, 172 properties at Saidabad, 49 properties at Rakshapuram-Habeeb Nagar stretch, 124 properties at Balapur to DRDL wall via Hafeezbaba Nagar, 125 properties at Bandlaguda-Errakunta stretch, 138 properties at Himathpura-Fathedarvaza stretch, 173 properties at Hussaini Alam-Dhoodwali stretch, 45 properties at Bahadurpura, six properties at Gudimalkapur junction, 57 properties at Ekminar Masjid to Bazharghat junction, 281 properties at Golnaka-Amberpet stretch and remaining properties Borabanda Panka bus stop, Gachibowli, Khajhaguda junction, Balanagar and Kavadiguda.

A senior GHMC official told The Hans India here on Thursday that the road widening works would be divided into 34 packages. He said that the estimated cost for the project would be about Rs 300 crore and it would be completed in three months. He said that the road widening has been aimed at speeding up Telangana State governments’ flagship SRDP project.

The land acquisition has become a herculean task and the main reason for holding up the project, he added. He said after completing the land acquisition process, the project would run at a brisk pace and would take a shape prior to the general elections which were slated to be held sometime during October next year in 2018.

Furthermore, the GHMC official said that the road widening works would be taken up according to a Master Plan which would be monitored by zonal city planners. He said that the executive engineers and special grade deputy collector (land acquisition) would negotiate with the property owners regarding the payment of compensation for the affected properties. He also said that the work progresses would be monitored by the Chief Engineer (projects) and Chief City Planner from the civic body headquarters.
