Officials told to link Metro rail to IT corridor

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K T Rama Rao on Tuesday asked the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) authorities to connect the Metro Rail to IT Corridor by June 1, 2018.

While reviewing the Hyderabad Metro Rail on Tuesday, the Minister asked the officials to provide connectivity to IT Corridor and complete the works by June 1, 2018. He wanted the officials to see that the connection to the IT Corridor is provided from Ameerpet as more number of people travel through this route.

The Minister asked the officials to look into the possibility of having more coaches as the response to Metro Rail was positive from the denizens. The officials informed the Minister that any increase would depend on the response from passengers after a review in February. The officials however said they would try to increase the frequency of the trains.

The Minister stressed on the parking facilities at the Metro Stations since citizens are facing inconvenience due to lack of parking spaces. He wanted the officials to make sure that people know about the parking places available at the stations. He wanted the HMR officials to take the support of the Police Department as and when needed. He also wanted the officials to make the commuters aware about the usage of smart cards.

The Minister asked the HMR officials to talk to the TSRTC authorities to provide more feeder buses on Metro routes. He asked the HMR officials to take immediate steps for arranging drinking water and toilets in the Metro Stations. He stressed on providing more number of toilets to the existing numbers. The Minister also inquired about the feedback from passengers on the Metro. He thanked the people of the city for their disciplined approach.
