Irrigation minister T Harish Rao on Sunday released water from the Nagarjunasagar dam to the Left Canal command area to raise crops for the Rabi season.
Speaking to the media, he said that 40 tmc of water would be released from the dam up to April adopting on and off supply pattern.

Mentioning that the TRS is aiming development while Congress leaders are aiming at stalling development, Harish Rao alleged that TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy’s call for a realignment of political forces against the TRS indicates that all those working against Telangana want to come together to fight against TRS.

He said that while Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keen on providing water for drinking and irrigation to every household and every acre of land, Congress leaders, on the other hand, started filing cases and were holding agitations against these projects.

The Minister stated that the Congress government managed only 35 percent of the modernisation of Nagarjunasagar canal works while TRS spent Rs 1,265 crore and completed the work in the last three and a half years.
