Students find massive bundles of ganja in boys hostel, warden's role suspected

Students of a private engineering college 12 massive bundles of ganja weighing around 100 kg under their hostel beds.

The students from an engineering college in Suryapet town found the ganja bundles on Thursday and immediately alerted the police who seized the contraband.

The police said that they are questioning hostel warden Linga Naik, who is the main suspect in the case.

Students stated that unidentified persons had wrapped the ganja in newspapers and placed the bundles under their beds when they were in class.

When they confronted the hostel warden regarding the bundles, he allegedly claimed that the bundles had question papers, and warned against opening them.

However, the students opened the packages only to find massive amounts of ganja stuffed in the bundles following which the student unions were informed, who then reportedly ransacked the institute's furniture.

With the issue brought to the notice of District Collector K Surendra Mohan, the local District Intermediate Education Officer visited the premises and spoke to the students.

The Education Department is set to conduct an enquiry shortly and submit a detailed report to the Collector demanding stringent action.
