Hopes were dashed after Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the Railway Budget subsumed in the General Budget 2018-19 having no mention of creating a separate Railway Zone.
However, the latest reports suggest that Centre has taken a decision on separate railway zone for Andhra Pradesh and the announcement in this regard is likely to be made in two days.
As per the assurances given by the Union Government in the AP Re-organisation Act, the special railway zone has been pending for a long time now.
