A Telangana boy was rescued by the police at Pune railway station early on Monday after he was kidnapped.

The eight-year-old boy, Ratlavath Chandru Naik, a Class III student of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir school was abducted from Kothakota in Wanaparthy district.

The kidnapper, Vamsi Krishna, an auto driver from Mahbubnagar district demanded his captive’s family to deliver his ladylove as ransom instead of money.

According to the reports, Vamsi Krishna had an affair with the boy’s aunt, who lives at Shivrampally on outskirts of Hyderabad. After coming to know of the affair, the family thrashed Vamsi at Shivrampally and warned him to steer clear of her.

On April 7, Vamsi Krishna decided to avenge his humiliation and went to the boy’s residential school where he informed the staff that Chandru’s mother had met with a road accident in Hyderabad, asking Chandru and his elder brothers to accompany him to the city.

Since the boys affirmed the management regarding Vamsi being their neighbour, the staff let the boys go with him.

Once they reached Kothakota bus station, Vamsi asked the two older boys to wait there and left with Chandru Naik. The two boys returned to the school after waiting for a few hours.

Meanwhile, Chandru’s parents received calls from Vamsi claiming that he kidnapped their boy. As Vamsi continued his ransom calls asking them to hand over his lady love in exchange for the boy, a complaint was lodged with Kothakota police on April 8 by the boy’s grandmother Ratlavath Julie and a kidnapping case was registered.

A special team was formed to rescue the boy. Police tracked the kidnapper to Maharashtra and found him travelling by train. In an inter-state operation, he was nabbed while trying to flee with the boy at Pune railway station in the early hours of Monday.
