The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday ordered stringent action against the perpetrators of the crime that took place in Gayatri Nursing Home at Saidabad where a newborn girl child was crushed to death minutes after her birth.

Last week, the Bench of acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K Vijaya Lakshmi directed additional police commissioner of Hyderabad to investigate the matter and file an action taken a report.

A petitioner R Sandeep Yadav filed a public interest petition complaining of prenatal diagnosis and female foeticide taking place in Gayathri Nursing Home of Saidabad. He further submitted a pen drive with video footage showing Sarwari Unrisa, who works at the nursing home, crushing a girl child with her bare hands.

Not understanding the ‘leisure pace’ in the case, the Bench directed the commissioner of police, Hyderabad, to hand over the case to a competent officer to exclusively investigate and file an action taken report within one week.

Also, the Bench stated its displeasure on the police choosing to arrest the petitioner based on a complaint by the hospital instead of sending the video to the forensic science lab and trace the person involved in the crime.

Further, the bench directed authorities not to allow the hospital to open and the case has been posted for next week.
