Unseasonal rains damage over 1.1 lakh metric tonnes paddy
Due to the recent unseasonal rains in Telangana, over 1.1 lakh metric tonnes of paddy of the 30 lakh MT, proposed to be purchased by the state government has been identified as damaged.

The entire damage is yet to be quantified and the quantity of soaked paddy is likely to go up. The state government, however, is making efforts to save the paddy being brought by farmers to agriculture market yards and purchase centers, keeping in view the rain forecast for the next two days.
Officials have been directed to coordinate with the marketing department for the purchase of the sufficient number of canvas to provide cover to the paddy brought to the market yards.
Civil supplies commissioner Akun Sabharwal stated that nearly 2,608 paddy purchase centers have been set up and over 11 lakh metric tonnes have been purchased till now.
