Internships mandatory for engineering students in Telangana
In one of the biggest changes to improve the quality of engineering education in Telangana, students will have to complete internships during their courses. This rule will be implemented from the academic year 2018-19.Â

According to the report by Telangana Today, engineering students will have to complete internships either after completing the second year or third year of the course.
Currently, students complete their mini and major projects in the final year of their engineering course. Now, as per the model curriculum of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), 15 credits out of 160 are for project work, seminar and internships in the industry. Internship for 6-8 weeks is compulsory for an engineering student.
Commissioner of Technical Education spoke on this subject and stated that beginning from the next academic year, it is mandatory for students to complete internships for the duration of 6-8 weeks. He added that the students belonging to polytechnic colleges also will have to complete internship but for them, the duration is 4-6 weeks.
