MLA and followers thrash culprit at police station, video goes viral

A video surfaced on Monday showing Malakpet MLA Ahmed Balala (MIM) and his supporters thrashing the culprit who was booked for rape bid on a seven-year-old girl.

The accused, Syed Ismail was brought to the police station on Friday night by a mob after he was beaten up. The video shows MLA Balala along with the group walking into the police station and later entering a room, where the culprit was kept. While abusing him, the MLA smacked him and later the mob took over, thrashing Ismail. However, the police officials at the station didn’t intervene.

The MLA later gave a statement to the media stating that the public will take action if the police don’t take strict action against Ismail.

When contacted, Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar said that the authenticity of the video is being verified and post that action will be taken. Meanwhile, Deputy commissioner of police (East Zone) M Ramesh informed that an inquiry was ordered into the incident and action would be taken on the policemen at the station for inaction and for not alerting higher officials about the assault.
