Six persons were arrested in Hyderabad on Tuesday on charges of cheating job-seekers by promising them jobs in Railways, Income Tax, SBI and other government departments.

Hailing from different districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the gang was led by P Venkatesh who cheated over 50 unemployed youth on the pretext of attaining them jobs in exchange for money.

According to the police, Rs 12 lakh, fake appointment orders of SBI, Income Tax Department, Railways and National Rural Health Mission were seized from the accused who were nabbed from different locations of the city.

The gang had set up a job consultancy firm 'MVM Technologies' and promised the job-seekers jobs in government departments, taking Rs 10 lakh for the purpose with an advance amount ranging between Rs 3 to Rs 4 lakh from each candidate.

They even conducted fake interviews in the visitors' lounge of Income Tax Offices in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Cochin, Kolkata, New Delhi. Upon realizing they were cheated, the candidates lodged complaints with the police.
