14 persons and five local journalists have been arrested by the police on Tuesday in connection to the mob violence that took place in the Old City which resulted in the death of a 52-year-old man at Chandrayangutta.

14 persons and five local journalists have been arrested by the police on Tuesday in connection to the mob violence that took place in the Old City which resulted in the death of a 52-year-old man at Chandrayangutta.

The mob attacked a group of transgenders on May 26 near Azeem Hotel in Hafeez Baba Nagar, Chandrayangutta believing them to child kidnappers.

A cleric had managed to intervene and convince the mob to not resort to violence during the holy month.

However, another group attacked two people, Chandraiah and Swamy with stones near Deccan Medical Hall in Chandrayangutta. Chandraiah succumbed to injuries at Osmania General Hospital in the early hours of May 27.

Upon analyzing the CCTV footage of the mob violence, the Police arrested V footage of the violence and arrested. They were sent to judicial remand.
