Etela Rajender: Telangana is going to be a great centre for reforms

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and CASCADE (Committee Against Smuggling and Counterfeiting Activities Destroying the Economy) held a ‘Combating Counterfeiting and Smuggling-An imperative to Accelerate Economic Development’ conference in a hotel in Hyderabad on Tuesday on the issue of counterfeiting, smuggling and on the topic of accelerating economic growth. Finance Minister Etela Rajender attended the conference as a key guest.

Speaking at the conference, he said that Telangana is the only state in the country with the best policing system citing the reference of the state banning poker clubs, Gudumba and Gutkha which destroyed many families in the state.

The Minister further said that Telangana is going to be a great centre for reforms adding that information on counterfeits is being taken into account and action is being initiated. He mentioned that the State government is firm on curbing counterfeit and smuggling activities in Telangana.

He said that even after the development of technology in the global scenario, such activities were growing every year which would affect the economy of the country.

Stating that it is necessary that all the stakeholders, including the government, industry and the public come together to combat them, Mr Rajender said that Telangana, despite being a new state has taken several initiatives in this direction.
