In an announcement on Monday at the GHMC head office in Hyderabad, GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said that 35 lakh saplings will be distributed to residential welfare associations (RWAs) and NGOs while the remaining five lakh saplings will be planted by the civic officials.

Urging companies to collaborate with the civic body and provide tree guards under corporate social responsibility (CSR) work, he said the GHMC website provides details of the tree guards and their price.

Janardhan Reddy also said that CC road repair works have been initiated at a cost of Rs 250 crore even though rains have hit the city adding that owners of dilapidated buildings are being served notices.
