Hyderabad: The Congress party on Wednesday ridiculed TRS MP K. Kavitha's remarks wherein she alleged that the popularity graph of AICC Rahul Gandhi was not up while Prime Minister Narender Modi's graph is falling.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy, in a media statement on Thursday, said that although Kavitha had no stature to comment on the Congress president, her remarks clearly lacks wisdom and maturity. He said Nehru-Gandhi family has made several sacrifices for the country. "Rahul Gandhi's great-great grandfather Moti Lal Nehru was a freedom fighter and lost his life due to ill-health caused after being jailed by the British. His son Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's role and contribution in both freedom movement and as country's first Prime Minister cannot be explained in mere words. Smt. Indira Gandhi and Shri. Rajiv Gandhi have lost their lives for the country. Similarly, Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi sacrificed the post of Prime Minister on two occasions. There is literally no comparison between Nehru-Gandhi family and KCR family," he said.
Gudur Narayana Reddy advised Kavitha to study basic history of modern India before making such remarks. "While Pandit Nehru laid the foundation of first industry in India in 1947, Dr. Manmohan Singh turned the country into a technologically advanced and economically strong nation. Kavitha is too ignorant to understand the contribution of Nehru-Gandhi family for this country," he said while reminding that the entire KCR family queued up at Sonia Gandhi's residence to take a picture after the then Congress president granted statehood for Telangana. "Kavitha cannot try to dwarf the stature of Rahul Gandhi just by making some remarks on a social media platform," he said.
The Congress leader claimed that there was a Congress wave across the country and people have started looking at Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister. He said Rahul Gandhi's bold approach to issues like poverty and unemployment was being welcomed and debated on all nooks and corners of the country. Just the way KCR came to power in Telangana by making tall promises in 2014 elections and again in 2018, Modi has cheated the entire nation with fake promises. People have realised that neither Modi nor KCR have the capabilities or political will to sincerely serve the people, they've started looking at Rahul Gandhi and Congress as their saviour, he said.
"Next Lok Sabha elections will be a straight fight between the secular and communal forces. While Narender Modi is leading the front which believes in communal and divisive politics, Rahul Gandhi is leading an idea that supports secularism and growth. There is no space for any other Front. The proposed Federal Front of KCR is nothing but a BJP-sponsored group aimed at dividing secular votes in the country," Gudur Narayan Reddy said and advised Kavitha to stay focussed on her own constituency than commenting on national politics.
He said Federal Front would remain a non-starter. Even if it starts, it would be of crab nature wherein no party or leader will allow the other to move forward. They will fight among themselves just to grab some attention and seek recognition, he said.
