The Central Crime Station (CCS) police took a MCA student into custody on Saturday on charges of posting vulgar comments against YSRCP leader Y S Sharmila on YouTube.

The student identified as Venkateswara Rao belongs to Prakasam district brought to Hyderabad in connection with objectionable comments on Sharmila. He posted derogatory comments after watching videos on YouTube linking Sharmila to a popular Telugu film actor to damage her character and image.

Earlier the CCS police issued notices to nine persons, who were identified with the help of Internet Protocol (IP) address, under Section 41 of CrPc. Police found that they uploaded videos on YouTube and Facebook for getting more likes.

The Cyber crimes police had registered a case based on a complaint from Sharmila to Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar stating that some people with their vested interested repeatedly trying to malign her reputation through videos and comments.
