The coming academic year will have 15 additional working days, from May 29, 2019 to April 11, 2020

MYSURU:The coming academic year will have 15 additional working days, from May 29, 2019 to April 11, 2020.

DPI has released the final timetable for schools and circulated it to district units. This will apply to all state board schools — public, private, aided and unaided.

Schools can declare four holidays at their discretion — in case of any mishaps. Midterm vacation is scheduled from October 6 to 20. Summer vacation is set to start on April 12. Schools are allowed to change vacation dates, but the number of working days must be the same. The upcoming academic year is set to have 250 working days in total.

Festival holidays have been cut to make room for additional working days. A block education officer said, “Schools will reopen on May 29, instead of June 1. Preparatory events — such as the school inauguration — will be conducted from May 25. Until now, these events were conducted on May 29.”Hassan DDPI Manjunath said 250 working days are fixed in the coming academic year though vacations can be reworked. “The coming year’s chart is an advisory on the stipulated number of schooldays.”
